Diabetics at TGI Friday

If you're a diabetic, then you must be extra careful while dining at TGI Friday. Try the salad menu at TGI Friday to keep your sugar and sodium intake in check. Soups are great to keep you full and satisfied without munching on the unhealthy greased meat-based dishes on TGI Friday menu.

Foods to Avoid at TGI Friday for Diabetics:

Sugar and sodium intake are crucial if you have diabetes. While the salads are the best option for you at TGI Friday, it is recommended to avoid the Pecan-Crusted Chicken Salad containing over 1000 calories and 1,650mg sodium. Visited again to give them another chance. We had comp coupons for appetizers, etc., so we used them. The Pot Stickers, which are normally pretty good, were absolutely not this time. One order arrived cold, and another order was warm, but both were not "pan-seared" at all. They're supposed to be steamed/boiled, then pan-seared according to the manager who stopped by, but even he noticed the chefs in the back weren't cooking them correctly. And we tried the warm pretzels, which I didn't have high hopes for since it's pretty much just bread. And they even screwed that up by deep frying them for far too long, until they were a very, very dark brown. Sure enough, they had that over-fried bitter taste. We didn't bother complaining to the manager, because we were paying with most of it in coupons. But the waitress had the manager stop over any ways since we had to get a replacement for the cold pot stickers. He gave us another comp card for the free appetizer, even though we didn't really want it. So please, if a manager reads this updated review, don't ask to help me or offer me more comp coupons. You've had your chance to improve, but I see no improvement from this location. You've lost my business. I will use my lost comp coupon soon, and when I visit I'll order nothing else. If your chain restaurant repeatedly screws up even the appetizers, you know there's a serious problem. Time to hire new chefs and/or managers.

The best part of the supper, was the appetizers. kind of sad. the food was crappy. Our steak was burnt. Also the potatoes that I had tasted like they were just warmed up...

We had a pretty average experience here. Our server was nice - a little too nice. He reminded me of the guy from Chotchkie's in the movie Office Space. He asked us if we wanted to try the "New Strawberry Passion Fruit Iced Tea" while talking really fast with a big, fake smile. He then tried to get us to order some appetizers. It was somewhat amusing. I had the Jack Daniels Burger with fries. The J.D. sauce was tasty but too runny. When I poured some on the burger, it immediately ran out of the sides, making for a sticky eating experience. Ask for extra napkins. That just made things worse, since the table and floor already had some stickiness. Luckily, the burger was cooked well and tasted good. It had a big piece of melted cheese and bacon hanging out. The fries were fine but nothing special. We were seated right under a speaker, and the music was blaring. On a Sunday afternoon, I felt like we had to talk loudly to hear each other just like a bar on a Saturday night. Overall, I was a bit disappointed and underwhelmed because I looked forward to trying this place out.

Stopped here on a football weekend Friday. The staff was courteous and attentive. There is a small Nittany Lion statue in a cabinet way at the top of the bar. One of the waiters, named Chris, got a ladder and took it out so we could take a picture with it. He went above and beyond and that makes a big difference! The place is clean, the food is good and they treat you right. We will come back here next year.

Great food. Great bar drinks. The fresh strawberry mule was filled with flavor. The new Jack Daniel's sliders were excellent. Would be 5 stars if the service was better. It wasn't terrible, just not very good. Server clearly didn't have many tables but still needed me to ask 3 times to get water on the table.

Sad, so sad. It was Food Service Industry night, and you'd think the servers would treat fellow servers with some attentiveness. As for the food, my burger was greasy as were my cold fries. All of us at the table are quite understanding of service issues but this was sad. Refills took too long. Too many re-fires. I think it will be a while until we return.

Our recent experience wasn't bad, but not excellent. I got the Chipotle Yucatan Salad and he got the stacked burner with a side of fries. Our food came out within 3 minutes of ordering which told me the burgers and chicken and were precooked. Still, the meat was good. The fries were cold. My salad came with the dressing "drizzled" but the menu should have read "poured" because there was wayyyy to much mayo-ey dressing. Tip: order your dressing on the side. The salad was supposed to come with avocado. It did. Three small pieces. It also came with tortilla chips but maybe had 4 small ones. The salad could have been excellent if the ingredients were proportioned better. For dessert, we ordered the toffee cake with ice cream on top. It was good, but it had a few pieces of tomato and green pepper in it. Hello - cross contamination! The waitress was friendly, but it was all so fake. For almost $50, I expected better. The appetizers are great here. I recommend the apps over the regular menu items. Sundays are half off apps, too.

Don't order delivery from this place. Food arrived 15 minutes ago and I'm already writing the review. My brother and I rarely splurge on food--we only do it to treat ourselves. We chose Friday's because we'd had a good experience in the past, but after tonight it's safe to say I won't venture there again. Both of us got burgers and the first thing we noticed was the measly portion of fries next to the burger. I know for a fact that the portion we received would not have been served in a typical restaurant--there were maybe 12 fries a piece. I called the manager and he agreed to send out more fries. As I started on my cold burger, 3 quarter-sized charred pieces of something fell out and I lost my appetite. Seriously, these burgers are $12 a piece. I expected so much more. I will note this: our delivery driver was professional and courteous. I can't speak to the wait staff at this location because I've not eaten here but our driver was great.

Service can go either way.. not much consistency, same goes with the food as well. However the most annoying thing is how all the employees come on their day off and hang out at the bar bitching. Come on guys, its your day off, stay the heck away...

On the one hand, I'm writing this and saying "Am I really reviewing a Fridays?" But hear me out. The bar specials are pretty damn good. I ended up coming here a ton last year since I worked across the street. At the time, the prime bar special was $1 Miller and $1 nachos on Tuesday (It's now $2 Long Islands and $2 Nacho). The fact of the matter is that I could get a pre or post meal work and pint with tip for less than $10. Sure, it's a Fridays and the food is decent for what's essentially quick pub food. But getting out with a full stomach for that little when it's that close? Why not?

On the bright side, the Vanilla Bean Cheesecake is to die for. It is light, fluffy and airy in the topping, and rich and vanilla-y in the cheesecake. But, at $6 a slice, I would never come here and just get a piece of cake, when for $12.99, I can get an appetizer, a selection from a limited list of the menu as an entree and a dessert, which is what I usully do, unfortunately, because every time we eat here, I wish we stayed home and saved the $35, or spent it somewhere else. The service is always crappy... either a waitress complains to us about her day being so bad, or ignores us completely, or never leaves us alone... Last night, my boyfriend insisted we go out to eat because he said I am to pretty to stay in and he wanted to focus on talking to me and not cooking. Fair enough. I never got to actually talk to him though because when my waitress stopped interrupting us every five minutes because she started cleaning, we were being rushed out. The best thing to do would be to come and get three appetizers during the week because they really are the best things on the menu. Everything else is so commercial and bland. It's hit or miss, not depending on the night, but depending on what you order. I am a salad girl. I would rather eat double the calories in a salad than ever have a burger. Salad's at Tgi Fridays are not good. It is not the type of restaurant that can say "with onions" and then when you find the one onion, credit them for being accurate and descriptive. The southest salad says it has black beans in it. Good luck finding them, or any of the other things it credits itself with containing. Last night, the salad I ordered came without the extra's I specifically requested twice. In fact, it came without avocado at all, but the bill did not come without the extra $2 hidden as a dessert charge for it. When I suck my fork in to open it up and see if there was anything I requested actually in my salad, I pulled out a piece of rotten, wilted and soggy romaine lettuce. Nice to know that was hiding under the mound of cheese that made up the rest of it. When I showed it to my waitress she said "eww, yuck," and brought me a side of plain iceburg lettuce. No one offered to take it back and remake it, but expected me to dump it on top of my new lettuce at the table. I didn't eat any of it because this whole situation started to annoy me. I presume no one offered to fix it because it was ordered within 5 minutes of the kitchen closing. Going to places like Friday's sucks the fun out of going out to eat in State College.

Mediocre service. The female servers looked like they partied too much last night and couldn't be bothered to comb their hair. Three of them had it piled on the top of their heads like girls do when working out. Very sloppy looking. Our server (a guy server) must have gone for a cigarette break before he came to our table. He reeked of smoke. The food was ok, I did like the flatbread appetizer.

The happy hour specials (bar only) are definitely among the best in town ... on particular nights. At the time of this review, they have one dollar Miller Lites on Monday (yes, I know it is Miller Lite but still) and two dollar Long Island Ice Teas on Tuesday. The "old school" nachos on Tuesday and loaded fries on Thursday (only after 8 pm) are something to behold at only two dollars each (only order one if you value your current pant size). The amount of cheese and bacon on the fries makes me cringe just thinking about the fat in filtering through my liver.... In any case, this is your standard TGIF if you do not go to the specials.
